$362 and nothing to show for it: inside the SeeAir Kickstarter scam

In March 2023, I backed the SeeAir Tankless Dive System on Kickstarter. Compact, battery-powered underwater breathing gadget. Polished renders, a slick video, spec sheets that looked legit. $362 for the dive unit and a couple accessories. Seemed fair.

Panasonic DMC-FZ7 or Canon Powershot S3 IS?

For a long while I have been recommending my mum to get the Panasonic DMC-FZ7, and now she was finally ready to take the plunge. Of course, when reading up I found that the Canon Powershot S3 IS was out as well and has close to identical features. The differences are: the Canon is twice as heavy, uses AA batteries rather than a propriatery lithium-ion battery, has a shorter minimum focus distance (good thing :) ) and zooms quicker. After much discussing, she ended up with the DMC-FZ7 as it was lighter and I'm quite confident it was a great choice even though I liked the lens of the S3 a bit better. Price difference? $1. ;-)

Episode #2

Here is the second podcast, slightly delayed since production but ready for your enjoyment. The reason for the delay is that neither I nor Mogens have found the picture we promised in the podcast, so we'll have to get back to you with that one. Greetings from the Ringve Early Music Course here at lovely Sund, Innerøy, Norway.

Beware of flying Sterling and Norwegian

This is flying with Norwegian or Sterling: I arrive at Copenhagen airport 1,5 hours early (I had planned on being two hours early but apparently the airport train was malfunctioning). There is one counter and a long line that has not been organised at all. While the line quadruples in size, security from another airline makes sure to move the line so that their passengers can come through. I'll probably fly with that airline next time.

Lebanese blogging

Reading up on what is happening in Lebanon I found The Lebanese Bloggers and a Letter from Beirut that I think are a very good read in addition to following the news. These bloggers are there telling us their story and about the confusion. Go read

What do signatures mean?

I'm quite used to transposing music to where it fits my instrument, even though I know some people don't approve of this. I think what is important to know when doing this is what character is implied by using a certain signature. Since I don't have a copy of Mattheson's Neueröffnetes Orchestre I looked for the quote and found this page that quotes Mattheson directly on what they mean.
